Bio

Colonel Robert F. Paoletti currently serves as the commander of the 49th Military Police Brigade and the California Homeland Response Force.


He began his military career as an enlisted Soldier in 1990. 


In 2004, COL Paoletti volunteered to deploy with the 49th Military Police Brigade in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and was assigned as the Brigade Inspector General. During the deployment, COL Paoletti completed Military Police Transition Course and was branch qualified Military Police. Upon return from Iraq, COL Paoletti was assigned as the Operations Officer of the 185th Military Police Battalion.


COL Paoletti again deployed with the 49th Military Police Brigade in 2009 as the Brigade Chief of Operations.


Upon return in 2010, COL Paoletti assumed the role as the Brigade Operations Officer.


In 2012 COL Paoletti assumed command of the 1st Battalion (MP), 223rd Regional Training Institute in San Luis Obispo, California. During his tenure, the Military Police Branch Orientation School was awarded the TRADOC Institute of Excellence.


In 2013, COL Paoletti assumed command of the 185th Military Police Battalion and remained in command until his assignment as the Division Provost Marshal of the 40th Infantry Division in 2015.


Col Paoletti assumed command of the 49th Military Police Brigade in 2017 and has subsequently led the brigade during 8 DSCA events supporting 11 County Sheriffs. 


Full-time, COL Paoletti commands both the California Counter Drug Task Force and Southwest Border Missions while also serving as the State’s Command Provost Marshal.


Concurrent with his military career, COL Paoletti served over 24 years as a law enforcement officer, culminating with his service as Chief of Police for the City of Redding. .

COL Paoletti’s military awards include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Global War on Terror Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Humanitarian Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Reserve Forces Achievement Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M”, “2” and “Silver Hourglass” devices, Military Outstanding Volunteer Award, Combat Action Badge,California Medal of Merit, California Good Conduct Medal, California Service Medal, California Federal Service Ribbon, California State Active Duty Ribbon.


COL Paoletti has been married to his wife Michelle for over 22 years. They have three children Jarrett, Haleigh and Nicolas.
